Bread bowls

For the longest time I've been wanting to learn to make bread bowls. I've had a little bit of extra time lately so I finally decided to try them. They really turned out great. I have a bread machine that I used to mix and knead the dough, but I can't say I really followed a particular recipe - it was basically just trial and error. I filled them with a recipe called:

Fiesta Beef Bowls

Ingredients:
1-1/2 pounds boneless beef top round steak
1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes and green chilies
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cans (15 ounces each) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
3 cups hot cooked rice
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 tablespoons sliced ripe olives
6 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
6 tablespoons guacamole

Directions:
Place round steak in a 3-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, onion, garlic and seasonings; pour over steak. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove meat from slow cooker. Add beans to tomato mixture. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or until beans are heated through. When cool enough to handle, slice meat. In individual bowls, layer the rice, meat and bean mixture. Top with cheese, olives, onions and guacamole. Yield: 6 servings.

Here's the final product:
Needless to say it was hearty meal :)

Belly pictures

I realize I'm alittle behind on my belly pictures so let me catch you up. This one was taken at 9 weeks and 5 days along in my pregnancy. As you can see I barely had a bump. A lot of people still can't tell that I'm pregnant even though I'm almost 16 weeks (15 weeks and 6 days to be exact). Stay tuned for my most current picture. I will post it in the next few days.

Garage Sale Find

This past weekend our neighbors down the street were having a garage sale and we actually came across a really good find. We found an almost brand new baby swing for $25.00. Now, if you don't know, the regular price of a new baby swing can run anywhere from $100 to $180. We thought it was a great deal so we swiped it up!! Here's a picture of it:

We also found some hooded towels that had never been used that are just adorable and gender neutral, I might add! They were $.25 a piece

Second Ultrasound!

Angie went for her 2nd ultrasound on Wednesday and we got new pictures!

The baby's a bit shy in this picture... or it's already playing peek-a-boo :)

She met with Dr. Hale, our geneticist, at the recommendation of our OB/GYN, Dr. Suit. Dr. Suit recommends all her patients see a geneticist so that parents have as much information about the baby's health as possible. Dr. Hale has a newer ultrasound machine and all of our pictures will now come from him - the pictures are better quality. God has continued to bless us by giving us great reports from the Drs. about Angie's and the baby's health! The baby's heart-rate is perfectly within the range of a healthy baby :) We will go back in 4 weeks for another check-up and to find out the baby's gender! We can't wait for that appointment to get here!

The baby's giving us the thumbs-up in this one:

I turned this one upside-down because it's easier to make things out:

And here's a close-up!

Keep us in your prayers!
